NBC Bay Area meteorologist Rob Mayeda said the sneaker wave threat will be highest just after high tide around  1:10 p.m.

Sneaker waves can pull people into the sea, which is why authorities reminded the public not to turn their backs on the ocean. Fishermen, the Coast Guard said, whould avoid fishing from rocks or jetties.
