Community Event Aims to Unseat Judge in Stanford Sexual Assault Case

A group of women and their allies have organized a community event in Oakland to gather complaint forms to unseat Judge Aaron Persky.

Persky is under fire for giving ex-Stanford swimmer Brock Turner a six-month sentence for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. Turner, 20, is expected to complete only half of that time; he was booked on June 2 and is scheduled to be released on Sept. 2.

Prosecutors had sought a six-year sentence in the case.

"For Her" will take place at 645 W. Grand Ave. 7 to 10 p.m. on June 15.

Vice President Joe Biden called the 23-year-old victim, whose note to her attacker went viral, a "warrior" on Thursday.
