Milpitas police have a new way of patrolling the streets thanks to technology.

A new computer program the Milpitas Police Department is using predicts where criminals will strike next in the city. The program, Predpol, analyzes crime data to help determine a prediction.

In addition to the Milpitas, police departments in Santa Cruz and Los Angeles are using the program.

A state grant is paying $37,000 for a three-year trial in Milpitas.
