The Walnut Creek bomb squad has determined that a suspicious device found in Newhall Community Park in Concord Friday morning was not an explosive device, Concord police said.
The device was found at about 9 a.m. in the picnic area of the park, which is located east of Treat Boulevard.
Because several explosive devices have been found in the park recently, police asked the bomb squad to come look at it, police said.
