Cops: “Tidy” Thieves Politely Pilfer Marin Homes

A string of burglaries committed by polite and tidy thieves.

A string of burglaries in Marin County have been committed by thieves so polite, the thefts go unnoticed for days.

At least 15 burglaries over the past six weeks in San Rafael have been committed by burglars who carefully enter homes through unlocked windows or open doors, according to the Marin Independent Journal. They painstakingly search for jewelry or cash and don't disturb anything else.

"The premises are left so neat that the residents are sometimes unaware of the burglaries for days," according to the newspaper.

Homes on Knight Drive, Kinross Drive, and Driftwood Court have all been hit, the newspaper reported.

San Rafael police have been informing residents of the new clean burglary scheme, the newspaper reported. Anyone with information is asked to call (415) 485-3000.
