Coroner Identifies Latest Hell's Angel Victim

The Santa Clara County coroner on Monday identified the victim in Saturday's homicide at a Hell's Angels funeral as 52-year-old Steve Tausan.

Tausan was also a member of the gang in the Santa Cruz chapter.

The shooting happened at the funeral for the president of the San Jose Hell's Angels chapter Jeffrey Pettigrew. Ironically, Pettigrew was also the victim of a homicide. He was shot and killed last month during a motorcycle festival in Sparks, Nevada.

Some 4,000 turned out to honor Pettigrew when shots rang out around 1 p.m.  People said that Tausan got into a fight with someone in the crowd just prior to getting shot.

San Jose police said Monday they have little to go on following the shooting, even though it happened in a crowd of people.  Fellow Hell's Angel members whisked Tausan away to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance.

People who were attending the funeral said there was already a heavy police presence at the service and officers flooded the scene immediately.

San Jose police said their investigation into Steve Tausan's death has been hampered by tampering at the crime scene.

Police had no suspect information and said no arrests have been made.
