San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom turned to Twitter to show the world he is still alive this week and Thursday his celebrity friends might finally end the mayor's boycott of the media. Newsom has eluded the press and members of his own staff following a statement that ended his campaign.

Tuesday he broke his un-Gavin like silence and rekindled an old flame when he tweeted, "Hats off to the VA for supporting" Project Veterans Connect" today---big success --a model program supporting homeless Vets."

And the tweet, along with a celebrity filled dinner, could finally pull Newsom out of his bat cave.

Newsom is scheduled to appear at an A-list ceremony at the San Francisco Opera House honoring Rev. Cecil Williams’ 45th anniversary with Glide Memorial Church.

Actor and Bay Area resident Danny Glover is scheduled to join poet Maya Angelou and San Francisco Giants President Larry Baer. Don't underestimate the power of the Giants. Remember the mayor's "Dadchelor's party" took place at a Giants' game.
