Crews Douse Two-Alarm Fire On Seventh Floor Of 12-Story Building Near San Francisco State University

Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at a high-rise residential building in San Francisco on Friday evening, a department spokesman said.

The blaze was reported shortly after 7 p.m. at a Parkmerced apartment building in the 100 block of Cambon Drive, about a half-mile south of San Francisco State University.

Crews found the fire at a residential room on the seventh floor of a 12-story building and extinguished the fire about 15 minutes later, fire spokesman Jonathan Baxter said.

A second-alarm response was called for due to the size and occupancy of the building, Baxter said.

Crews remained at the scene this evening to make sure the fire didn't extend past the room, according to Baxter. No injuries were reported, he said.

Red Cross officials are en route to the scene to help the two people who were displaced by the flames, fire officials tweeted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
