Lanes of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge have reopened following a water rescue of a person who fell underneath the bridge.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision that resulted in the person falling into the water following some sort of dispute between people involved in the crash.

The collision was reported at 2:25 p.m. involving a white Honda SUV and possibly another vehicle, according to CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt.

Two relatives in one of the vehicles got into a disagreement and one of the relatives ended up in the water, Van Eckhardt said.

Two boats helped searched for the person during the rescue, he said.

A Sig-alert was called at 2:34 p.m. and updated at 3:02 p.m. indicating that traffic is at a standstill in both directions of state Highway 92. All lanes reopened by 4 p.m.
