Cueto Shuts Out Padres, Strikes Out 11

Johnny Cueto had it all working for the Giants Tuesday night as he struck out 11 in a complete-game shutout of the Padres.

The Giants won 1-0 at AT&T Park.

The outing was Cueto's longest as a Giant.

The Giants didn't have a hit through four innings against James Shields, but broke through in the fifth. After Brandon Crawford led off the inning with a single, he was sacrificed to second by Cueto. Two batters later, Denard Span doubled high off the bricks in right center to bring in Crawford.

That was all Cueto needed. Over eight innings, he allowed seven hits and one walk, but induced two inning-ending double plays.
