Curry-Less Warriors Escape with OT Win Over Hawks

OAKLAND – With cornerstones Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala watching from the bench, the winning came hard but didn’t stop for the Warriors.

With six players scoring in double figures, the Warriors won their sixth in a row, pushing their home win streak to 43 with a 109-105 overtime win over the Hawks before the customary sellout crowd Tuesday night at Oracle Arena.

Klay Thompson finished with a team-high 26 points, while Andrew Bogut totaled 19, Draymond Green had 15, Harrison Barnes 12, Leandro Barbosa 11 and Marreese Speights 10.

Playing at home for the first time in three weeks, the Warriors gave back an 11-point third-quarter lead but found a way to offset poor shooting with clutch possessions, nonstop grit and just enough defense to hold off the Hawks.

The Warriors (54-5) shot 39.4 percent from the floor but outrebounded the Hawks (33-28) 52-42.

Paul Millsap led Atlanta with 19 points.

STANDOUT PERFORMER:
Nobody gave the Hawks more trouble than Bogut, who finished with a season-high in points, most of which came on dunks off lobs.

Bogut’s line: 19 points (8-of-9 shooting), seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. The notoriously poor foul shooter made 3-of-4 from the line.

Green once again danced along triple-double border: 15 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists.

TURNING POINT:
The Warriors and Hawks clung to each other over the final eight minutes of regulation and nothing changed in OT – until Green dropped in a prayer 3-pointer to beat the shot-clock buzzer.

That gave the Warriors a 107-103 lead with 40.2 seconds to play.

The Hawks never got back into position to tie the game, much less go ahead.

INJURY UPDATE:
Warriors: G Stephen Curry (L ankle sprain) and F Andre Iguodala (L hamstring tightness), listed as questionable, were declared out prior to tipoff. C Festus Ezeli (L knee surgery) is listed as out.

Hawks: F/C Tiago Splitter (R hip surgery) was listed as out.

WHAT’S NEXT:
The Warriors return to action Thursday night, when the play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Oracle Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:40 p.m.
