The MDC may be putting on the brakes for cyclists who ride at the West Hartford Reservoir.
Investigators believe that a bicyclist found unconscious and then later determined to be dead on the side of Highway 9 in West Santa Clara County Sunday afternoon may have lost control of his bicycle and collided with a tree, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.
Passersby discovered the cyclist, a 59-year-old man, of Cupertino, unconscious on the right shoulder of Highway 9, south of Redwood Gulch Road at around 3:50 p.m.
The cyclist was confirmed to be dead at the scene at around 4:15 p.m. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
The northbound lane of Highway 9 south of Redwood Gulch Road was closed for about one and a half hours to facilitate the investigation, according to the CHP.
