A Livermore father will be officially charged Wednesday with stabbing his son 11 times during a late-night fishing trip this weekend.

Police say Gary Gomez, 48, took his wife, 14-year-old son and two of his sons' friends fishing at Bethany Reservoir around midnight Sunday.

Gomez allegedly became upset and got into a fight with his son after one of the friends said they had to go home around 2 a.m.

Police say the boy was getting the better of his father so Gomez pulled out a knife and stabbed his son 11 times all over his body  - and his wife at least once when she tried to stop the fight. He also allegedly punctured a tire on the family van as the wife drove away.

The injuries were not life –threatening.
