Willow Glen Window Smasher Strikes Again

Someone has been shattering windows in San Jose’s upscale Willow Glen neighborhood for the last few months.

DiModa Salon was the most recent hit. The windows were smashed over the weekend. On Monday, the salon had its windows boarded up.

Amber Lopez, DiModa Salon owner, said the attack happened at 2 a.m. Sunday.

"Somebody threw a wrench through the window, broke the glass," Lopez said. "A neighbor walked by at 7 a.m., saw it, called us and we rushed down. By that time, the police were here."

Lopez said she is frustrated her surveillance camera only caught the window breaking and did not capture a clear image of the vandal.

"This is the third time that we've had our window broken," Lopez said. "We've been here seven years...it's costly for a small business. It's hard."

The BevMo nearby was also hit about two months ago, as was the Baskin & Robbins, and Starbucks.

Two San Jose police officers on the beat told NBC Bay Area the property damage is, unfortunately, low priority because it appears to be vandalism only – no merchandise has been stolen, and no victims have been hurt.
