Several Alameda County residents were hospitalized Monday when a man drove a vehicle into a living room following an argument, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into a house in the 2200 block of Regent Way at around 7:30 p.m., according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

A 19-year-old Pittsburg resident had allegedly become angry during an argument and wanted his cell phone and a ring back from another man. He then allegedly deliberately drove a vehicle into the home, striking several people, police said.

"I looked out the window, I gave the guy eye contact so he knew I was looking." Neighbor Alex Galindo said. "He just had this look in his face. Very angry. He took off down the street ... he came back around and rammed right into my gas and then went straight forward to where all the people were."

Five victims were taken to Eden Medical Center and St. Rose Hospital. A woman who was protecting her toddler from the out-of-control car suffered a broken neck, police said.

A chihuahua from the house was caught under the car but police rescued it and returned the dog, unharmed, to its owners.

The man ran away but police caught him at the BART tracks near the house and took him into custody on several felony charges. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Hayward Superior Court, according to  the sheriff's office.
