Dog Dies in Hot Car, Owner Charged

A woman whose dog died after being left in her locked vehicle Friday at a downtown Pleasant Hill parking garage has been arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals resulting in death, Pleasant Hill Police Sgt. David Nichols announced.

Police say Angela Kleinfeld, 38, left her boxer inside her parked vehicle in the garage at 160 Crescent Drive at around 4 p.m.

The dog was inside the vehicle without sufficient ventilation, according to police.

Police, which received a call about a dog in distress, were forced to break into the car to get to the dog. The dog was taken to the SAGE veterinary hospital where the dog died.

Kleinfeld was located at the scene and taken to the Pleasant Hill Police Department. Temperatures were over 100 in Pleasant Hill on Friday.
