San Francisco's Dolores Park kicked off an improved waste and recycling program this past weekend.
San Francisco Supervisor Scott Weiner and San Francisco Recreation and Park, with a grant through Recology, started an increased waste and recycling service for the popular Dolores at 18th Streets park, which sees many visitors -- especially on weekends and holidays.
An extra park attendant will be hired through the grant and Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. to monitor, empty, and sort trash and recycling bins during peak visiting hours, said program officials. The attendant will also be on hand to answer any questions about waste disposal.
The program will add 386 clean up hours on weekends and holidays through September, Dolores Park program officials said.
