Domestic Violence Offenders Barred From SFPD Ranks

New rule bans batterers from San Francisco police.

New rules barring anyone convicted of a domestic violence offense from serving as a San Francisco police officer have gone into effect, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

Some key San Francisco law enforcement officers have had brushes with domestic violence in different ways.

San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor false imprisonment following an argument with his wife in which he grabbed her arm, and San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr was demoted for not immediately filing a police report after a woman, a friend, told him that she'd been badly abused.
