A man was arrested in Sausalito this morning after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and jumped off a second-floor balcony, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call from a woman saying there was a "crazy man" in her home in the 200 block of Glen Drive at 2:15 a.m., according to Sausalito police.

Arriving police reported hearing a crash coming from the home, and discovered that the suspect -- later identified as Gabriel Turco, 37, of Sausalito -- had jumped from a balcony and fallen about 40 feet onto a hillside, police said.

Paramedics were called to take Turco to Marin General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police were told that Turco and the victim had been in a verbal argument when the victim said she was going to call 911.

Turco then grabbed her and tried to choke her before she was able to break free and lock herself in the bathroom with a phone, police said.

She was not injured in the attack, police said.

Turco, who was on probation for drunken driving, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, false imprisonment, domestic battery, and violating probation.
