Police Investigating Double Shooting in Concord Discover Large Marijuana Stash

A man and woman were shot Wednesday night in their Concord house, leading investigators to several pounds of marijuana, which they believe the victims were selling illegally.

At 9:50 p.m., officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots heard on the 2900 block of Bella Drive in the newly developed Centre Point complex.

Police found a 29-year-old woman who had been shot in her arm and a 28-year-old man who had been hit in the head. They are in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon, police said.

Detectives who searched the house discovered "a significant amount" of marijuana that "would show sales," said Corporal Christopher Blakely with the Concord Police Department.

The suspect or suspects, who were clad in all black, followed the victims through the garage and into their home, police said.

"They shot them both and drove off" in a pick-up truck, Blakely said.

Neighbor Douglas Lorraine said he heard the gunshots from his house.

"It sounded like a small Glock," he said of the type of firearm.

At least eight rounds were fired, Lorraine said. He noted also that the community is a safe one, despite the shooting.

"This is not a bad neighborhood," Lorraine said.

Detectives are expected to interview the victims, who are still in hospital, and determine if they will face possible drug charges.

Police have not yet revealed a motive and the suspect remains on the loose.
