Driver Rams Oakland Officer

An Oakland Housing Authority officer was hurt Tuesday morning after being rammed by a driver who was then shot by another officer, an Oakland police spokesman said.

The female officer had responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 2529 Ninth Ave. at about 10:10 a.m., Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said.

The officer tried to make contact with the car's driver, but the  driver struck the officer with the car, causing lower leg injuries, Thomason  said.

A second officer then fired at the vehicle, striking the driver, Thomason said.

Witnesses on the scene said the man had a bandage on his arm.

The officer who was hit by the car and the suspect were each  transported to a local hospital and were listed in stable condition, he said.
