Drunk Man Chews Good Samaritan's Ear

Fairfax man allegedly bit man who tried to stop him from smashing car windows

A Marin County man who sipped more than he could handle apparently bit off more than he could chew as well.

Police arrested 23-year-old Andrew Thornton after he attacked a man who tried to stop him from allegedly smashing the mirrors of parked cars.

"Mr. Thornton, who was apparently intoxicated, attacked the 56-year-old man," said Sgt. Stuart Baker of the Fairfax Police Department told the Marin Independent Journal. "He bit the victim's ear, causing a serious injury."

Thorton has reportedly been smashing the car windows around 1:10 a.m. in the area of Blackberry Lane and Forrest Avenue.

He was arrested and charged with assault, vandalism in excess of $5,000, mayhem and drunk and disorderly conduct.

His bail was set at a meaty $5,000.
