E-Cigarettes Not Included in Burlingame Smoking Ban

An extension of Burlingame's smoking ban does not extend to the popular electronic cigarettes, or vaporizers, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

The smoking ban now applicable to parks, trails and some parking facilities does not cover e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes, the small, electronic devices that vaporize oil by means of a heating coil, are being regulated at the county level, the newspaper reported.

E-cigarettes are officially banned in other public places in cities like San Francisco, where e-cigs can't be used in bars or in city buildings.

In San Mateo, the county may take the step of banning cigarette use -- that is, normal cigarettes -- in apartment complexes.
