A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the murder of a woman who was stabbed to death inside an apartment in East San Jose near the Regional Medical Center of San Jose, a police spokesman said Friday.
Gabriel Alejo, of San Jose, was captured the same day Teresa Maravilla, 28, was found stabbed, unconscious and not breathing in the apartment in the 100 block of Jose Figueres Avenue, Sgt. Heather Randol said.
Alejo was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, Randol said.
Alejo and Maravilla had known each other, Randol said.
At 2:56 p.m. Tuesday, the Police Department's emergency dispatch center received a report of a person stabbed at the address on Jose Figueres where Maravilla was found.
She died at the scene, Randol said.
The homicide was the 13th of the year in San Jose, according to police.
