An 7-year-old girl was shot in East Oakland on Monday, police said.

The shooting was reported at 2:22 p.m. in the 2300 block of 65th Avenue, Oakland police Officer Kevin McDonald said.

The girl was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police originally reported that the girl was 8, but on Tuesday, they corrected themselves.
