Election Night Watch Parties Spring Up in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County voters looking to celebrate Election Day — and the end of the long and contentious 2016 campaign — have a slew of options available to them this year.

Considering both the county and state are deep blue territory, it should come as no surprise that most of the parties are hosted by Democrats. However, GOP supporters hoping to celebrate with like-minded voters still have a couple options.

The Republican Party of Contra Costa County will be hosting an official event at the San Ramon Golf Club on Fircrest Lane starting at 8 p.m. Attendees will include Assemblywoman Catharine Baker, congressional candidate Roger Petersen, State Senate candidate Joe Rubay and Assembly Candidate Claire Chiara.

Another shindig exclusively celebrating Republican Nominee Donald Trump will be held at Zio Fraedos on Gregory Lane in Pleasant Hill. According to an advert, attendees can gather at the restaurant "until we know" the results of the election, so the restaurant's business hours may be extended.

Meanwhile, Democrats supporting nominee Hillary Clinton will be gathering at Buffalo Wild Wings in Concord to watch the results live starting at 8 p.m. This is the official event for the Contra Costa Young Democrats.

Supporters of Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover will be hosting an election watch party at the Pittsburg Senior Center on Presideo Lane starting at 7 p.m.

Supervisor John Goia will be hosting an election watch party where guests are invited to make predictions at Salute E Vita Restaurante in Richmond from 7 to 10 p.m. Assemblyman Tony Thurmand will also be there celebrating, and possibly partaking in the party's free appetizers.

Democratic Assembly candidate Cheryl Cook-Kallio will be hosting an election night party at Maria Maria Restaurant on Camino Ramon in Danville starting at 8 p.m. In addition to her supporters, members from the Contra Costa County Democrat association will be on hand.

An LGBTQ Election Watch Party supporting Hillary Clinton will be held at Club 1220 on Pine Street in Walnut Creek. This event, which was posted on Democratic nominee's website, might be sold out or at capacity, so it's probably wise to have a back-up plan.
