Three top-selling electric cars are now available for rent and sharing in San Francisco. Hertz and Marriott have partnered to make the EVs available to guests and the public, by the hour or by the day.
The hard-to-get Nissan Leaf, EV Smart Car and (later) the Chevy Volt will be in the rental stable.
The San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront will make the cars available 24-hours-a-day via Hertz's self-service technology, Hertz On Demand. In addition, Hertz Rent-A-Car located on Mason Street will also make the vehicles available.
The hotel, just down the peninsula in Burlingame, installed two charging stations. The cars take between three and four hours to fully charge.
Drivers who take the environmental high road will get free valet parking and a free charge if they're dining at the hotel restaurants or staying overnight.
The hourly rental charge is between $6 and $8.
