    Every August since 1974, the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races have delighted vintage motor sport fans who have come to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to witness one of the most extraordinary vintage racing events in the world.

    Fifteen race groups competed wheel-to-wheel during the three day event.

    They represent a comprehensive history of the sport.

    Practice started Friday with racing on Saturday and Sunday.

    Each year the historic races honors a deserving automobile manufacturer.

    With a legendary racing heritage, Porsche has been named Featured Marque for the 2009 Rolex event.   Jerry Seinfeld is a well known Porsche man and was on hand to take in the sights at Laguna Seca.

    To help celebrate the  40th anniversary of Porsche's iconic 917, four of these historic race cars competed against each other on Saturday.
