Fall Kills Woman on DeAnza Campus

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death  of a woman who fell from a parking structure today at De Anza College in Cupertino, in what the school president said was an apparent suicide.

The woman's name has not yet been released. De Anza president  Brian Murphy said she was a former student.

Sheriff's deputies responded around 4:40 a.m. to a report of a  woman lying in the parking lot near the Flint Center parking garage, Sgt. Rick Sung said.

The sheriff's office is investigating the death, but Sung said  there were no signs of foul play.

Lois Jenkins, a program coordinator at the school, said school is  in session, but classes don't begin until about 6 a.m. The Flint Center  garage where the incident occurred was closed until about 9 a.m.

Murphy encouraged students, faculty and staff who need counseling to call the counseling division at (408) 864-8730.
