The driver of a car died Wednesday morning after his silver Saturn pulled in front of a bus on in Antioch, according to the bus company, family and firefighters.
His brother told NBC Bay Area that he was 27 years old and often didn't wear a seat belt.
Tri Delta Transit CEO Jeanne Krieg said the bus was traveling eastbound on Davison Drive when a car traveling north on Burwood Way pulled in front of the bus, causing the bus to strike the car at 5:46 a.m.
She said the driver of the car died at the scene and four of the six passengers went to the hospital.
Antioch police were investigating the scene, which showed a bus on its side, and a silver Saturn crumpled on the street. Police did not release who was at fault.
Neighbor Marta Isola said she was "broken hearted" and called the intersection where the driver died as a "death corner." Other neighbors said they regularly see people driving much faster than the posted 35 mph speed limit.
