Father Charged After Son Dies in Vallejo House Fire
    Vallejo Police Department
Vallejo resident Darrylone Shuemake Sr, 53, is believed to be responsible for setting the fire that killed his son.

A Vallejo father accused of setting a house on fire with his own son inside made his first court appearance Thursday.

Solano County Deputy District Attorney Sharon Henry charged Darrylone Shuemake Sr. with the murder of his son, and the attempted murder of his wife. She also charged with him with felony arson.

The charging documents also show that the father has at least 14 known spellings and aliases, including the name Darryl Barnett and Kevin Shumake.

Investigators said Shuemake Sr. poured gasoline on the mother of his 5-year-old son and set her on fire as the boy slept in bed nearby. The boy was killed as the fire quickly spread throughout the Vallejo home on Sunday.

Shuemake Sr.'s hearing was continued until next week.
