Fiery Crash Shuts Down I-80 Overnight

This is what the fire looked like just after 1 a.m. this morning.

All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Emeryville have reopened following a vehicle fire and oil spill overnight, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Eastbound lanes were shut down for a time.

The collision was reported on eastbound Interstate Highway 80, just after Powell Street, shortly before 1 a.m., according to the CHP.

Video shows a fiery ball of flames on the roadway.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Our Emeryville traffic camera shows marks on the roadway Wednesday morning caused by the absorbant that was used to put out the fire.
