San Jose firefighters respond to a fire at a residence at 6029 Burchell Court, several blocks east of Coleman Road, Monday, March 3, 2014.

The San Jose Fire Department knocked down a two-alarm fire at a single-family home in the Almaden Valley area of South San Jose on Monday morning.

The department received a report at 9:06 a.m. of a fire at a residence at 6029 Burchell Court, several blocks east of Coleman Road, fire Capt. Cleo Doss said.

Firefighters said the flames were so big they had to call for back up.

The fire was in the attic of the home, and appeared to be spreading to the rest of the structure, Doss said.

All of the home's residents got out safely, Doss said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
