An early-morning fire broke out at a duplex in San Jose Friday. Firefighters were able to put it out within half an hour but the building sustained significant damage
Firefighters were on the scene for a while, monitoring hot spots.
The three people who live in the building won’t be able to stay there for a while because of the fire damage. Crews cut plywood sheets and boarded up the windows to keep people out.
When San Jose firefighters got to the site just before 12:3 a.m., neighbors were forced from their homes as a precaution.
The neighborhood is bounded by Interstate 280 to the north, Coyote Creek to the east and Happy Hollow to the southeast.
Nobody was hurt in the fire.
