2-Alarm Brush Fire Burns Three Acres in Oakland Hills

Fireworks sparked a brush fire Saturday afternoon near Castle Drive in Oakland, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

A dispatcher said that the two-alarm fire, which burned about three acres, was first reported at about 3:50 p.m. Fire crews found a Piccolo Pete at the scene near Joaquin Miller Park and the Chabot Space & Science Center, authorities revealed later.

The Fire Department and Cal Fire had seven engines on scene and were able to prevent the fire from threatening any structures. No injuries were reported, they added.

Authorities said the fire was contained by 5 p.m. but crews remained on scene to monitor hot spots.
