3-Alarm Fire Damages 5 Homes, Displaces 12 in San Jose

A three-alarm fire burned Sunday in San Jose, damaging five homes and displacing 12 people, according to the San Jose Fire Department and California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers said the fire, which sparked on the 4900 block of Snow Drive, was reported at about 3 p.m. and impacted both structures and vegetation.

Fire Capt. Peter Caponio said that three homes sustained major damage and embers started a grass fire nearby. Firefighters were still working on extinguishing the blaze at 6 p.m. Sunday.

While 25 people were affected by the fire, no one was injured. All lanes on southbound 101 south of Hellyer Avenue were reopened. [[314492211, C]]
