Fire Near San Jose's Muni Stadium Damages 3 Homes

Fire crews have extinguished a two-alarm fire at a home near San Jose Municipal Stadium that spread to neighboring garages this afternoon, a fire captain said.

The fire at a home in the 1100 block of South Sixth Street was reported at 2:12 p.m., San Jose fire Capt. Cleo Doss said.

The blaze burned part of the house, attached living areas and a detached garage, Doss said. Fire crews put out the fire in the house at 2:47 p.m. and had flames out in the secondary structures at 2:57 p.m., he said.

The blaze had spread to neighboring garages on both sides of the home and those fires were put out quickly, Doss said.

All three homes are still habitable and no residents have been displaced.

However, Doss said the detached garage was seriously damaged. He said there were some issues accessing the home when fire crews first responded. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Keyes Street was shut down between South Seventh and South Third streets and South Sixth Street was closed between East Humboldt and Martha streets as of 3:20 p.m. because of the response to the blaze, Doss said.
