Santa Clara firefighters extinguished a five-alarm fire that consumed several under-construction townhouses on Wednesday night, and damaged several nearby buildings, a fire battalion chief said.

Viewer video sent to us shows flames shooting through a home on El Camino Real and Scott. The fire started around 10pm.

Witnesses reported seeing the fire from miles away.
