San Jose firefighters battled a three-alarm house fire for nearly three hours early Saturday morning.
Online fund-raising has started for the family that escaped the flames. The fundraiser has already collected 940 dollars, as of Saturday evening.
A family of six, including four children under the age of six, left the home with only their clothes on their backs. The family is staying Saturday night at another home without any of their belongings.
The family said in just a few hours after the fire, friends and others stepped up to help the family by donating toys, towels, pillows, and even food for their pet cat.
Officials said the fire sparked around 3 a.m. in the top floor of their three-story home in East San Jose-based Vista Point Court. The fire ignited close to U.S. Highway 101 and Reid-Hillview Airport, they added.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control just shy of 6:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire, officials said.
