Responders battled flames in Virgin Hill Safeway parking lot

Firefighters Douse Martinez Gas Station Fire

Firefighters controlled a one-alarm fire at a gas station in Martinez today, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire was reported at a gas station near the Safeway store at Alhambra Avenue and Virginia Hills Drive at about 5:40 p.m., according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The fire was under control by 6 p.m. Firefighters remain on the scene this evening.

No injuries were reported.
