A 6-year-old girl in Mountain View is making good use of leftover Halloween candy by sending them to the troops.
Lara Platt and her mother organized a candy collection at Huff Elementary School, where Lara is a first-grade student.
She worked with Grant Road Dental and other volunteers to make flyers and collect the treats from students at her school.
The team packed 200 pounds of candy on Saturday and is planning to ship them out soon.
