First Transgender Wax Figure Might Be Coming to Madame Tussauds San Francisco

Did actress Laverne Cox inspire Madame Tussauds San Francisco to create the first transgender wax figure? Maybe. Maybe not. The answer will come out in a few weeks.

Though Madame Tussauds has not confirmed, the identity of its first transgender wax figure could be revealed later this month at a press conference being held on June 26, according to an e-mail sent to NBC Bay Area by a rep from Hard Rock Cafe, the official merchandise partner of the 2015 San Francisco Pride Celebration.

A rep for Madame Tussauds confirmed only that a member of the LGBT community will be honored in the near future.

The local outpost of Madame Tussauds has recently taken to immortalizing Bay Area tech luminaries in wax. Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg were first. Steve Wozniak is up next.
