Former VP Al Gore Promotes New Global Warming Film Before Screening in SF

Former Vice President Al Gore was in San Francisco on Monday to promote his new movie on the threat of global warming.

Gore, who was attending a private screening at the Commonwealth Club, had some choice words for the current commander in chief and his administration's environmental policy, saying President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the landmark Paris climate accord isn't irreversible.

Gore spoke to a sellout crowd before the 7:30 p.m. screening of "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power." The film hits theaters Friday.

Among his biggest revelations: Trump's decision to opt out of the Paris climate accord may not even matter.

"The first day the U.S. can legally leave the Paris agreement, not entirely by coincidence, is the day after the 2020 presidential election," Gore said, "and if there's a new president ..."

Gore went on to say that a new president can give 30 days notice and rejoin the agreement. Even so, he said the U.S. is on track to meet goals that former President Barack Obama set, despite the current administration's open questions about climate change.

"We're gonna win this," Gore told the audience. "The remaining question is whether we will win it in time."
