Fourth Suspect Caught in San Jose's 7th Homicide

Ernesto Daniel Chavez was arrested at the Port of Calexico.

A fourth man accused of killing a 22-year-old in San Jose in April was arrested, authorities said Wednesday.

Ernesto Daniel Chavez was arrested at the Port of Calexico by Department of Justice Agents on May 22, according to reports.

Chavez and three others -- Alain Calvillo, 20; Filberto Barreto Lopez, 20; and Francisco Bartolo Chavez, 23 -- are accussed of stabbing Joseph Cadle in the 1800 block of Sarasota Way on April 7.

The killing was called "gang related" by authorities.

Two of the suspects arrested for the killing have previous adult criminal records, according to court documents.

Court records showed that Lopez previously plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of having a dagger and Chavez had two prior felonies and a gang registration order.

Calvillo was arrested for the first time as an adult, according to court records.

Chavez is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail. The other three were arraigned last month.

The killing was the city's seventh homicide of the year.
