A person is dead this morning after an accident in Fremont, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to a report of three cars pulled over to the right hand side of northbound Interstate Highway 680 in Fremont near the Washington Boulevard off-ramp at about 12:24 a.m., the CHP said.
The CHP also received reports of a possible body lying in the slow lane in that area.
One person was transported to a hospital and was later pronounced dead, the CHP said.
All but one lane were closed as the scene was cleared, and all lanes were reopened at about 1:20 a.m., according to the CHP.
Details about the accident were not immediately available.
