Fremont Police Dog Helps Arrest Alleged Robbery Suspect

Fremont police used canines to catch an alleged strongarm robbery suspect on the run.

Officers closed down the Mowry Avenue onramp to Interstate Highway 880 Monday morning while tracking down a man accused of robbing someone at a nearby Safeway store at the Hub Shopping Center.

They chased him until he crashed his car near the onramp. That's when a police dog moved in, and officers arrested the suspect.

NBC Bay Area's Alan Waples contributed to this report.
