Fremont police shot a suspect armed with a knife late Monday.

At 6:51 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting a family disturbance on the 4700 block of Baffin Avenue. The female caller told police she and another female had been threatened and chased by her male roommate, who was armed with a knife, according to police.

The two females told police they fled the area and said the roommate was on the porch holding the knife.

Officers arriving on scene were confronted in the front yard of the residence by a male suspect armed with a knife, police said. During the altercation two officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect.

The suspect was transported to a local trauma center and his condition was not immediately known late Monday.

No other information was immediately available.
