Game's Tweeter Threatens Writers Over Poor Reviews

A small PR company called The Redner Group is red-faced this morning after one of its employees (possibly its only employee) threatened to stop sending video games to reviewers based on poor reviews for 2k Games' "Duke Nukem Forever."

This tweet from @therednergroup is now deleted: "...too many went too far with their reviews.. We r (sic) reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn't..." But, as we all well know by now, tweets are never really ever deleted.

"Duke Nukem," a game which had been delayed for a record-breaking 14 years, has not been well received by game reviewers. Regardless, it is highly unusual for game companies or their representatives to punish reviewers for their reviews.

2k Games makes other popular titles like "Bioshock" and "Mafia."

The same account later tweeted "I want everyone to know that I was acting on my own. 2K had nothing to do with this. I am so very sorry for what I said" and "I need to state for the record that 2K had nothing to do with this."

Says Ben Kuchera of Wired Magazine: "This sends a chilling message to those who review games professionally: hold your tongue if you feel strongly about a game, or you may not have timely coverage of a future release."
