Giants Get a Lift From Williamson, Bumgarner in Win Over Red Sox

Mac Williamson's first career home run proved to be the difference as the Giants beat David Price and Red Sox 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Red Sox left fielder Chris Young got the scoring started with a solo home off Madison Bumgarner in the top of the fourth inning.

Brandon Belt tied the game in the bottom half of the fourth with a home run into McCovey Cove, the first splash hit by a Giants hitter since Sept. 25, 2014.

Bumgarner gave up the one run in six innings while yielding four hits and one walk. He struck out five along the way.

Price completed eight innings, giving up just three hits, walking two and striking out seven.

The Red Sox put two runners on in the top of the ninth, but Javier Lopez and Hunter Strickland combined to get out of the jam and save the win for the Giants.
