Gilroy Police Find Missing 10 Year Old

Boy is autistic and went missing around 5:30 p.m. Friday

Good news from the Gilroy police department late Friday as they reported finding a missing child.

Police said 10-year-old Brenden Hartock was located just before 10 p.m. in an unincorporated area of Gilroy.

They said he was alert, unharmed and did not require any medical attention.

Brenden was reported missing after last being seen in the area of Monterey Road and IOOF Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

He is autistic and was in need of medication.

By 9 p.m. police had fanned out across the city in patrol cars and on foot. They also asked for assistance from the Santa Clara County sheriff's department.

People in Gilroy may have noticed a helicopter overhead as police searched by air.

Police said Brenden will be reunited with this family when the investigation concludes.

The Gilroy Police Department wanted to thank the community members, media and Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office & their Search & Rescue Team for the assistance they provided which resulted in Brenden being located.
